22 Weeks

We had an appointment on Monday. Everything went well. It was the first time the tape measure came out. She said I'm supposed to measure the same in centimeters as the weeks I am pregnant plus or minus 3. I was right at 22! I'm definitely feeling her move around, especially after I eat or when I'm on the couch watching TV. Here's a picture taken on Wednesday:

Carmel California for Jon's birthday

Jenni decided to surprise me for my birthday with a trip to Carmel. We left town on Friday and headed north. When we arrived in Carmel we checked into the Tradewinds hotel and caught a late dinner at Casanova (The mushrooms in garlic and wine sauce were amazing). On Saturday, our friends Rich and Cristina came down from San Francisco and brought their daughter Rachael. As you can see below, she entertained us the entire day. She makes us look really forward to having our own daughter.  On Saturday night, we went out to dinner at Mission Ranch with Cristina's parents, Don and Wendy. Mission Ranch is owned by Clint Eastwood and is also where Rich and Cristina got married. It was nice to be with great company in such a beautiful place.

On Sunday, we drove up to Monterey and went to the Aquarium. I had never been to Monterey or the aquarium before and found both to be impressive. After the aquarium, we drove back to Carmel via 17 mile drive. We took our time pulling over to take in the sites of the rugged California coastline. We stopped for lunch at the lodge at Pebble Beach (definitely need to play golf there one day). We capped off the trip by catching a November sunset over Carmel beach. Everyone in the town had the same idea. Kids and dogs ran up and down the beach while the parents took in the sights. It was nice to feel the crisp fall air of Northern California and a great way to end the weekend.

18 Weeks! And only 5 days until we find out if we are having a Boy or a Girl!!

We had our 18 week check-up on Monday. The heartbeat sounded great. We finally asked what the heartrate was to see if the old wive's tale is true about the heartrate predicting the sex. She told us it was 150 so that would mean a girl. We will see if that's right in 5 days!!

I'm not really fitting into my regular clothes anymore but the maternity stuff is too big so getting dressed in the morning is a challenge. I'm sure that will change qickly! Here is a picture Jon took last night after a big dinner. :)

Pumpkin Patch!!

We went to the pumpkin patch this weekend and took a few photos. We couldn't believe it was 80 degrees out but it was fun picking out our favorite pumpkin to take home and carve later this week. Did I mention I love the pumpkin patch?!

Baby Miller's First Half Marathon

This weekend we were in San Francisco for the Nike Women's Half Marathon. I've raced the half marathon 5 out of the 6 years they've had it. Its a great race in a great city. At mile 12 they give you Ghiradelli chocolate and at the finish you get a Tiffany finsiher's necklace. Yes, Tiffany!! This year I signed up for the lottery to get in the race well before we found out we were pregnant. Its a tough race to get into and such a fun race I decided since I had no energy to train during the first trimester I would walk the thing. My sweet hubby agreed to walk it with me. It was a beautiful San Francisco morning but boy I had no idea how tough walking a long distance could be. I give major props to those long distance walkers out there. It took me longer to walk a half marathon than I run a full marathon. And to top it all off I was sore and still am sore! But I have to say it was totally worth crossing the finish at Ocean Beach. Baby Miller made it through his or her first half marathon! If we have a girl I will save the Tiffany necklace to give her when she's old enough to wear it. Who knows maybe one day we will actually run it together. Here are some photos from the event.

They post a list of all the participants on the window at Niketown in Union Square

"Just Do It" has always been my motto. I love the fact that the Golden Gate Bridge is behind it!

Jon happy to see Alcatraz in the background.

14 Weeks

Hello Everyone!!

Our friends Adam and Blair have the cutest pregnancy blog which has inspired me to try one of our own. We also want to keep all our east coast family up to date on everything! I only hope I can keep the blog updated (fingers crossed). We had our 14 week appointment yesterday. No weight gain but the baby's heartbeat was loud and strong. I also got the seasonal flu shot. Now I just need to get Jon to get one. Our best appointment thus far was with Dr. Soffici who does the genetic testing and also the big 20 week ultrasound. He saw us at 12 weeks and gave us the best 3D/4D view of baby Miller. Dr. Soffici pushed on my stomach a little and the baby started moving all around. He/she definitely has a lot of energy! We find out the sex on Jon's birthday, November 16. Here are a couple pictures at 14 weeks. My clothes still fit but I doubt they will for long.
